Stewart,
Sorry, I've no idea but i'm just thinking about getting into the Italian campaign as I have a load of Friend or Foe Indian troops to paint.
Maybe we could do with a Mediterranean Theatre board here - Italy is neither NW Europe nor Africa!

Thanks Alan but no joy there. Its just that ive got a couple of surplus Airfix 88s and bunging them into my Italian army seems better than letting them rot in the unmade pile. I might add my Italians are painted mainly for use in Russia with vechs and equipment to suit eastern and mediterranean fronts. This enables me to get more use out of them ie. i can take on Russians,Americans,British and Germans.[take on ie. lose]. Richard a Mediterranean Board seems a good idea to me as it could cover the Balkens as well. Stewart.

What about the Italian 90mm AA gun or was it like the British 3.7" and never used for ground support.

The 90mm was used both by the Italians and Germans for ground support. Stewart.

It had a heavier shell than the 88 but slightly less velocity. It was still a good weapn though, but as was usual with the Italian Army, there were too few to go around.

The Italian 90mm gun was a very good weapon, and as far as I can remember from my references had a penetrating ability similar to the German 88.The Italians mouted it on the Lancia truck to make it more mobile. However it also made it a large target in North Africa unless it was 'dug in'.
I think Italieri have just made a 1/72 model of this gun with crew figures, both mounted on the Lancia or in the ground role. The resin 'Mars' model is much more detailed though.Must get round to making it !!.

If you don't mind reading French, here are a couple of very informative links on the 88mm and 90mm in Italian service:
